The International Year One University Pathway Program is a new way for international students to begin studying for a degree at SF State. It allows students to take a range of first-year academic credit classes while also receiving specialized instruction to improve their English language skills.

International Year One Pathway Program

International Year One is a special first-year program that boosts your academic English language skills and helps lay the groundwork for future success.

International Year One allows students to take credited SF State General Education courses alongside additional academic and English language instruction. The carefully curated credited course options allow first-year students to both discover new fields and further explore already strong subjects.

Once International Year One is completed, students proceed directly to their second year of degree study at SF State.

Located in the city of San Francisco

The main campus is located just east of Lake Merced, a quiet and picturesque area of the city with acres of parkland for relaxation. The downtown campus is in the heart of downtown San Francisco, just minutes from the Embarcadero, Salesforce Tower and financial district.

After completing three years of undergraduate study at Shih-Chien University in international trade, I enrolled in the International Business certificate program at SF State. While taking the inspiring Global Entrepreneurship course, I realized that I lacked some professional skills and knowledge needed to become an entrepreneur and a leader… I am excited to transfer to the Business Administration Certificate program, a path for the international student to gain the foundation needed to pursue a fast track MBA degree.

How does a Pathway work?

1. STUDENT GRADUATES

from high school or completes undergraduate degree.

2. START INTERNATIONAL YEAR 1

Providing preparation and academic skills for university study.

3. COURSE OPTIONS

International Year One = 4 years.

4. SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES COURSE

and continue into the remainder of degree.

5. GRADUATE UNIVERSITY
