Oxford International Melbourne (Universal English) Summer Camp

Universal English has just hosted a Junior Program Summer Camp for the very first time!

Students aged between 11 and 17 from Japan, Macao, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Vietnam came together to improve their English, build their confidence, participate in cultural exchange, form lasting friendships and of course experience life in Melbourne.

Our teachers and staff created an awesome timetable of fun and meaningful classes and activities, with an emphasis on communicative in-class activities and excursions that enabled students to explore some of the best and most famous parts of Melbourne.

From Monday to Friday of each week, there were English classes that explored a range of thought-provoking topics, including social media, online safety and Artificial Intelligence, as well as much-loved everyday subjects such as food and travel.

These lessons were based around Oxford International’s top notch, British Council accredited Junior syllabus, which emphasises communicative skills and the development of critical thinking – all to facilitate the younger generation’s self-expression and confidence.

After class each day, our kids were guided through many parts of central Melbourne, on excursions to educational and entertaining venues such as Melbourne Museum, the National Gallery of Victoria and Scienceworks.

The students also enjoyed local nature and animals at Melbourne Zoo and the Botanical Gardens, as well as trips to some awesome places further afield – Brighton Beach, the vibrant suburbs Brunswick and St Kilda, and a day tour of the stunning Great Ocean Road.

Many of the Juniors apparently LOVED shopping, and were also accompanied on souvenir shopping expeditions to Victoria Market, and around the CBD.
